
The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels on June 29 under the weakening influence of effects associated with CH1302. Solar wind speed at SOHO ranged between 450 and 601 km/sec, averaging 515 km/sec (-107 km/sec compared to the previous day). The high latitude magnetometer at Andenes recorded quiet to minor storm levels. The above 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels all day.
Solar flux density measured at 20h UT on 2.8 GHz was 128.3 - decreasing 11.6 over the previous solar rotation. The 365 day average solar flux at 1 AU was 185.51 (183 days ago). The 81 day average solar flux at 1 AU was 142.8 (41 days ago, this is 46.6% of the SC25 solar flux range from the max 81 day average peak on September 4, 2024 at 227.3 and an average 81 day flux of 69 at solar minimum). SC25 365d peak: 195.86 on October 13, 2024. The Potsdam WDC planetary A index was 7 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 7.1). Three hour interval K indices: 22222123 (planetary), 22232322 (Boulder), 34234445 (Andenes).
The background x-ray flux is at the class B6 level (GOES 19).
At the time of counting spots (see image time), spots were observed in 18 active regions using 2K resolution (SN: 331) and in 16 active regions using 1K resolution (SN: 234) SDO/HMI images.
AR 14117 [S16W85] rotated partly out of view.
AR 14118 [S13W70] developed as new flux emerged. C1 flares: C1.2 @
08:37 UT.
AR 14120 [N06W80] decayed slowly and quietly.
AR 14121 [S10W59] was quiet and stable.
AR 14122 [N12E01] decayed slowly and quietly.
AR 14123 [S28W10] developed slowly and quietly.
AR 14124 [S15E24] was quiet and stable.
AR 14125 [N21E48] was quiet and stable.
AR 14126 [N08W41] was quiet and stable.
New AR 14127 [S18E33] emerged on June 27 and was noticed by SWPC 2
days later as slow development continued.
New AR 14128 [S05E41] rotated into view on June 27 and received its
NOAA number 2 days later. The region developed slowly on June 29.
Spotted regions not observed (or interpreted
differently) by SWPC/USAF:
S11187 [N13W28] was quiet and stable.
S11201 [S13W40] reemerged with tiny spots.
S11206 [N02E53] developed slowly and quietly.
New AR S11207 [S09E50] emerged with a few spots.
New AR S11208 [N17E26] was observed with tiny spots in an old plage
area.
New AR S11209 [S16E84] rotated partly into view with small spots. C1
flares: C1.0 @ 12:45 UT
A long lasting multi staged filament eruption was observed starting behind the southwest limb after 13:30 UT. Later on large parts of the southern polar crown filament erupted with the event ending after 21h UT.

A recurrent negative polarity southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH1304) will rotate into an Earth facing position on June 29 - July 2.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at mostly quiet levels on June 29 - July 1. July 2-4 could see quiet to active levels due to effects from CH1304.

Sunspot activity has been on a decreasing trend since September
2024 (using the average solar flux over 3 solar rotations as a proxy).
Compared to the peak of SC25 solar flux has been at a low level in both May
and June 2025. Taking a closer look at the 81 day (3 solar rotations)
average solar flux proxy, its peak was in early September 2024 and had on
May 12 decreased to less than half of the solar cycle flux range.
Subtracting the 81 day average of approximately 69 at solar cycle minimum
from all measurements, the SC25 range is 0 - 158.3.
All 365 day smoothed sunspot numbers peaked on October 11-12, 2024,
very likely making this the peak of SC25 (STAR 1K 365d peak: 236.1, STAR 2K
365d peak: 364.3, NOAA SN 365d peak: 156.0, ISN 365d peak: 163.6). The 365d
smoothed solar flux peaked on October 13, 2024, just 1.7% below the SC23
peak, and 62.6% above the SC24 peak.
