
The geomagnetic field was at minor to severe storm levels on June 13. The most likely source of the disturbance is a CIR associated with CH1301. Solar wind density at ACE/DSCOVR has been on an increasing trend since early on June 13, this is not what is expected if the source had been a CME. The phi angle has been in a positive sector after 22:15 on June 13. Solar wind speed at SOHO ranged between 375 and 491 km/sec, averaging 424 km/sec (-8 km/sec compared to the previous day). The high latitude magnetometer at Andenes recorded active to severe storm levels. The above 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels all day.
Solar flux density measured at 20h UT on 2.8 GHz was 143.0 - increasing 25.8 over the previous solar rotation. The 365 day average solar flux at 1 AU was 188.06 (183 days ago). SC25 365d peak: 195.86 on October 13, 2024. The Potsdam WDC planetary A index was 65 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 64.8). Three hour interval K indices: 76556566 (planetary), 55565445 (Boulder), 67754546 (Andenes).
The background x-ray flux is at the class C1 level (GOES 19).
At the time of counting spots (see image time), spots were observed in 11 active regions using 2K resolution (SN: 249) and in 9 active regions using 1K resolution (SN: 163) SDO/HMI images.
AR 14105 [S15W60] decayed further and produced
the only M flare of the day. C1 flares: C1.1 @ 04:55, C1.7 @ 18:40, C1.6 @
20:12 UT
AR 14109 [S17W41] decayed slowly and quietly.
AR 14110 [N06W43] developed further and has
minor M class flare potential. C1 flares: C1.7 @ 11:24, C1.4 @ 16:01 UT
AR 14111 [N14E14] was quiet and stable.
AR 14112 [S08W05] was quiet and stable.
AR 14113 [N10E47] was quiet and stable.
AR 14114 [N18E39] developed further and began to produce C flares. A
minor M class flare is possible. The longitudinal separation between the
trailing spots of this region and the leader spot of AR 14115 decreased. C1

AR 14115 [N20E50] displayed signs of decay and was mostly quiet. C1

Spotted regions not observed (or interpreted
differently) by SWPC/USAF:
S11145 [S15W79] decayed slowly and was
mostly quiet.
S11157 [S11E39] developed further and was mostly quiet. C1 flares:

New region S11159 [S02E46] was observed with a tiny spot in an
old plage area.

A large recurrent positive polarity southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH1301) will be Earth facing on June 11-19.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at active to major storm levels on June 14 and quiet to minor storm levels on June 15-21 due to effects associated with CH1301.

reach Earth within the next 5 days. When the high speed stream has arrived
the color changes to green.

Sunspot activity has been on a slowly decreasing trend since September
2024 (using the average solar flux over 3 solar rotations as a proxy). The
decline has become more obvious during the first half of May 2025 with solar
flux on May 12 at its lowest level since April 4, 2024. The solar max phase
of solar cycle 25 was considerably shorter than that of the most recent
solar cycles.
All 365 days smoothed sunspot numbers peaked on October 11-12, 2024,
very likely making this the peak of SC25 (STAR 1K 365d peak: 236.1, STAR 2K
365d peak: 364.3, NOAA SN 365d peak: 156.0, ISN 365d peak: 163.6). The 365d
smoothed solar flux peaked on October 13, 2024, just 1.7% below the SC23
peak, and 62.6% above the SC24 peak.
