The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled on May 10. Solar wind speed ranged between 318 and 430 km/s. A low speed coronal hole stream caused a weak disturbance most of the day.
Solar flux measured at 20h UTC on 2.8 GHz was 97.5 (decreasing 20.3 over the last solar rotation). The planetary A index was 8 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 7.9). Three hour interval K indices: 11223332 (planetary), 11223422 (Boulder).
The background x-ray flux is at the class B2 level.
At midnight UTC the visible solar disk had 7 spotted regions.
Region 11203 was quiet and stable and will be rotating over the
northwest limb today
Region 11204 decayed slowly and quietly.
Region 11205 was quiet and stable.
Region 11207 developed slowly and was quiet.
Region 11208 decayed slowly and was quiet.
Region 11210 displayed no significant changes and was quiet.
Spotted regions not numbered by NOAA/SWPC:
[S999] rotated into view at the southeast limb on May 9. Location at midnight:
S13E63
May 8 and 10: No obviously Earth directed CMEs were observed in LASCO
and STEREO imagery.
May 9: A large, wide and fast partial halo CME was observed following
a long duration C5.4 event at the northeast limb in the evening. There's a
slight chance of a flank impact from this CME on May 13.

A coronal hole (CH448) in the southern hemisphere will likely rotate into an Earth facing position on May 12.
The darkest areas on the solar disk are likely coronal holes.
Long distance low and medium frequency (below 2 MHz) propagation along paths north of due west over high and upper middle latitudes is poor. Propagation on long distance northeast-southwest paths is poor to fair.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on May 11, quiet on May 12-14 becoming quiet to active on May 15-16 due to effects from CH448.

1) Effects from a coronal hole could reach Earth within the
next 5 days. When the high speed stream has arrived the color changes to
green.
2) Effects from a CME are likely to be observed at Earth within 96 hours.
3) There is a possibility of either M or X class flares within the next 48
hours.
Green: 0-20% probability, Yellow: 20-60% probability, Red: 60-100% probability.

When available the active region map has a coronal hole polarity overlay where red (pink) is negative and blue (blue-green) is positive.
